FreeStyle Football 2 Maps and Pitches
Route 66, New York, Busan, Brazil, and why a bigger 5v5 pitch changes every role.
Maps in FreeStyle Football 2 are not wallpaper. WOORE is placing 5v5 pitches on iconic locations worldwide, and the court you load changes sprint lengths, crossing angles, and how long a missed slide takes to recover. The pitch is larger than the original 4v4. That single change is why a defender who only trained on a tight street court will get isolated on Route 66, and why a forward who only practiced long switches will feel crowded in New York. Read How to Play for the rules that sit on every map, then use this page to adjust the same rules to the scenery.
Tests never showed every location at once. Closed beta leaned on Route 66. The June 2026 demo added a compact New York urban map. Official footage also talks up Busan night-market futsal and a Brazil stadium. Do not treat the four names below as a finished atlas. When a new pitch appears, walk it once, then play a match just to learn the touchlines.
Route 66
Route 66 was the closed beta headline map: desert highway energy, long sight lines, and enough grass that a bad first touch becomes a 40-yard recovery. Forwards get space to run Key Moves. Midfielders have to actually turn and switch play instead of tapping A into the nearest shirt. Defenders cannot step as a five-person wall; someone has to hold the middle while a partner covers the wide runner. Mukamba’s stamina buff and mid-range Lion’s Strike make more sense here than on a futsal box, because you will be asked to cover ground and still shoot from distance if the attack stalls.
The length also changes Freestyle Move value. A 90 to 150 second ultimate that beats one player in the middle of a huge pitch is a 3v2 if your teammates made the run. The same move on the edge of your own box after a turnover is a waste. Camera complaints get louder on Route 66 because the default broadcast view has more empty sand to show. Resist the urge to zoom into a first-person chase. You need to see the weak-side runner.
New York
The demo’s New York map is a compact urban court. Touches happen faster. Auto passing is more dangerous because the wrong teammate is always close. Offside traps are easier to spring and easier to blunder into. Queen Swift’s blink and high-jump header play well in the tight box; Butter’s Full Load Drift can still burst, but the wall comes sooner. If your only hours were this court, you will over-slide on larger maps. Practice one extra jockey step before you press X.
Compact also helps people who hated defending in the original. You are never as far from the action. Teamwork Rank ticks are visible because interceptions happen in traffic. Use that. A New York match is a clinic in standing in lanes, not in 70-yard recovery sprints.
Busan night-market futsal
Busan is sold as night-market atmosphere wrapped around a futsal-style court. Expect tighter lines than Route 66, more boards-and-bodies energy than a broadcast stadium, and visual noise from stalls and lights. That noise is why you lock a camera angle before kickoff. If the market distracts you, you will miss the A intercept window. Futsal spacing rewards the one-touch pass that Match Controls already taught: face the teammate, then pass. It punishes the hero dribble into three defenders.
Chris and Sanchez, the test midfielders, should love Busan if they actually move the ball. Forwards who only cut inside will run out of paint. Defenders should treat the court like a box they can shrink, not a desert they have to patrol.
Hamburg
Official Prime OBT coverage — including Butter’s update delivery — adds Hamburg as a city pitch in the September 4–8 2026 window, alongside Lena. Treat it like the other named courts: walk the touchline once, then play a match just to learn recovery length. Public materials do not publish a full pitch diagram. If it plays long, late slides will punish you the way Route 66 does. If it plays compact, auto-pass offsides will punish you the way New York does. Do not assume it is Busan because both are city-at-night in a thumbnail.
Lena’s intercept identity is the reason Hamburg is on this atlas this week. A high-speed closer on a long German court is a different job than Mukamba camping a futsal box. Pair the pitch with How to Defend.
Brazil stadium
The Brazil stadium is the broadcast postcard: stands, lights, and a pitch that still plays as 5v5 arcade with AI keepers and no cards. Do not start playing as if you have eleven humans. Use the extra width for switch passes, Queen Swift crosses, and Mukamba mid-range shots. Through balls still die offside. If a cinematic camera loses the weak-side runner, return to the default broadcast view.
How to adapt without a new brain
Whatever loads, the rules do not change. Five humans, two AI keepers, pick after the match is found, no duplicate characters, Teamwork Rank on the HUD. The Guides Hub and Players Hub sit next to this atlas. Your adjustment is distance. On a large pitch, hold your role and trust the extra second it takes a pass to arrive. On a compact court, take fewer touches and intercept more. Walk the touchline once during a pause so you know how much grass is actually behind you.
Pair this page with Getting Started if you have not finished the tutorial pitch, and with Ranked and Clubs once you want a five that calls “wide” versus “short” before kickoff. Story locations live in the Story Mode Guide. Prime OBT will be the first time many players see more than one of these courts in a single week.
Before that window, pick a home pitch in your head. If you only trained on New York’s compact demo court, Route 66’s length will punish late slides. Practice the long switch on purpose, not just the cut inside, so the first desert spawn is a plan instead of a panic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Agents heading into Prime OBT and launch.
Which map was in closed beta?
Route 66 was the CBT pitch. Later tests and the demo added other locations rather than replacing the whole idea of iconic worldwide courts.
What did the demo add?
The June 2026 demo added a compact New York urban map on top of the earlier test experience. It plays tighter than Route 66.
Is the pitch the same size as the original game?
No. The 5v5 pitch is larger than the original 4v4, which stretches recovery runs and makes switch passes more important.
Are Busan and Brazil in every test?
Not always. Official materials showcase Busan night-market futsal and a Brazil stadium, but each test shipped a subset. Confirm the rotation when a window opens.
Do maps change the rules?
No. Offside, AI keepers, no cards, and Teamwork Rank stay. Maps change distances, camera comfort, and which character tools get room to breathe.
